Acne. Everyone has experienced it, whether in childhood, adolescence or adulthood. Acne is mainly associated with the period of adolescence, when it is mainly caused by hormonal changes in the body. But what to do if acne appears in adulthood? There are more adults with acne than you might think. And maybe you’re causing it by brushing your teeth.
It is generally recommended to brush your teeth before you wash your face or shower. This minimizes the chance of bacteria spreading around the mouth. For healthy skin, it is essential to follow certain hygiene principles, without which you can try to have clean and healthy skin as much as you want, but you will never succeed. One of the most important principles is regular hand washing before any intervention on the face, for example during a skincare routine. Also try to touch your face as little as possible during the day, this will prevent the transfer of bacteria from your hands to your skin. The next important step is proper and consistent cleansing of the skin, which also includes the „double cleanse“ method, where you remove various impurities and grease from the face that have stuck to the skin throughout the day. It is also important to remove make-up thoroughly every time you wear make-up and spf. An important note is the fact that every skin is unique and if one thing, cream or method works for one person, it does not mean that it will automatically suit you.
There is also misinformation circulating on the internet that toothpaste works against pimples. But that’s really just a myth. It will dry the place of the pimple, but as soon as you want to remove the paste, the pimple can open and become inflamed. Therefore, we definitely recommend pimple patches, which are easily available and very effective, for individual manifestations of acne. In the case of larger acne „breakouts“, definitely go to a dermatologist, who will advise you on how to proceed in your specific case and work towards healthy skin. If you think that pimples around the mouth and chin in your case are correlated with cleaning your skin before brushing your teeth, try switching their order for a while. If you see changes, you probably know what the problem was. But it is important to mention that the change will not come immediately. It is necessary to give the skin some time for its renewal, which is why it is necessary to have a consistent skincare routine and, above all, patience.
